Shining Bright This Christmas

Matthew 5:14-16

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Just as the Christmas lights bring joy and wonder to every tiny beady eye along Orchard Road and as the sparkling lights wrapped around the Christmas tree act as a beacon of gifts and joy to the residents at home—so too should we as Christians be to all with whom we come into contact.

For we are the light of the world and a city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Last Saturday, we had a glimpse of what light can do when it shines in the darkness as we celebrated Christmas together with the residents of Bedok North. More than just a time of fun-filled festivities, it was a time where the love of Christ and the joy of the Lord was demonstrated first-hand as Calvarites served and interacted with the residents.

Similarly, as we celebrate Christmas this year with our family and friends, let’s continue to let our light shine before others, so that they may not only see your good works but that they may give glory to God in heaven.

Have a blessed Christmas! And let’s keep shining brightly as that beacon of hope, love, and joy to those around us this Christmas! God bless!
