Heart To Heart

God is your force multiplier

One of your men puts to flight a thousand, for the LORD your God is He who fights for you, just as He promised you.  (Joshua 23:10, NASB)

“How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Unless their Rock had sold them, And the LORD had given them up?  (Deuteronomy 32:30, NASB)

In the nascent phase of the nation of Israel, Israel witnessed how God came through for them on numerous occasions. From the Red Sea parting to the collapse of Jericho’s walls, from a small army of 300 men defeating another that filled an entire valley with its numbers, God’s constant reminder to them was not to look at themselves but to turn to Him.

This reminder is also served to us today as we read His word and reflect on how He has moved in times past. While God desires for us to participate in His initiatives, His requirement for each of us as a participant is unique. If you lack strength, come as you are – He will fill the gap. If you are fearful, come as you are, you are not alone. If you have doubts, come as you are, you will witness a glorious breakthrough. If you lack the gifts or abilities, come as you are, He will empower.

For the most part, what is important is that we show up. Because if we don’t, we miss the moment of being a participant in His breakthrough. Each time we find ourselves up against a gargantuan task, we need to immediately deal with the next possible negative thought that comes into our minds, take it captive to Christ, and refocus our attention to who God is.

Dear friend, when God fights for us, He does the things that are out of reach. And here is where it gets powerful – one putting a thousand and two putting ten thousand to flight. If He has purposed for a group of individuals to accomplish a task, when each person within that group rests in His grace for the task, the effect of that faith is multiplied many times over.

He honours a single person’s commitment and faith, and He exponentially multiplies their force when a group of individuals come together into a committed agreement and faith to do what He has called them to do. Don’t discount what He can do through you!
