Heart To Heart

Awakening hearts to His Kingdom

Ephesians 1:9-10 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Not everyone can waltz into a CEO’s office and have him reveal the corporate agenda or blueprint to you. Before getting thrown out by security, we would likely receive a bewildered look and the obvious question, “Sorry, who are you?”

Yet we are very privileged to have God reveal to us the mystery of His will according to His purpose. This is a privilege extended only to His children, and we need to ask ourselves how we fit into this plan of His.

We are in a season of His awakening of our hearts to His Kingdom and His purpose for us as a church. Over the past two years, His operative words have been “surge”, “break (the glass ceiling)”, “pick up (the mantle)”. These are forward-looking, momentum-building terms.

They also reflect the need for action on our part, that while God sovereignly declares a new trajectory in Calvary, this is also a call for us to keep moving forward, despite the odds or occasional weariness.

I liken this to a steeplechase, where obstacles will need to be overcome in a long-drawn race. We draw strength from the Holy Spirit. We cloth our minds and hearts with faith knowing that as we persevere, we will experience the breakthroughs that He promised.
